As a Christian woman, I’ve never imagined the women of the Bible to be anything other than bright, capable humans who took part in the human experience.
Throwing around labels such as “oppressive patriarchy” or “shamed for her sexuality” makes me think that the author doesn’t understand God whatsoever. Marriage and the family are a picture of Jesus and the Church. Is Jesus an oppressive patriarch? Hardly. Is being a spy and a murderer of Godly people “being shamed for her sexuality?” Also no.
The Bible isn’t a book easily understood when the reader automatically believes whatever the social justice crowd claims about the Bible. Ex: nobody in the church or the Bible blames Bathsheba for David’s actions toward her, yet non-Christians claim that we do, because #oppression #patriarchy
I’d be great if people who don’t read the Bible would stop trying to frame Christianity as some woman-hating cult.
