I’m glad you pointed out that emotional incest can be a component of NPD. My uNPD parent engaged in EMOTIONAL incest, forcing me to take on the role of emotional spouse & therapist.

Once I got old enough to date, the uNPD parent acted like I was cheating and it’s been nothing but vitriol and being smeared to the rest of the family daily, for nearly 20 years now.

I never considered that a wounded narcissist would act like a spurned spouse when their narcissistic supply grows up and focuses their energy on their own romantic relationships, rather than being the constant therapist to their parent. Makes sense in trying to understand my abusive parent.
